Born in 1993, Sikubali comes from a disadvantaged community, the Duruma, whose culture places little value on formal education. He started Sasenyi Primary School very late and was one of the older boys to join Kenyatta High School in 2010. It was great to see that he is keen to pursue a secondary education. Like many in his community, Sikubali’s parents have never had a paid wage and rely on peasant farming from a plot of semi-arid land. Sikubali is one of five children and is the first to go beyond primary school. He will need to work extra hard to cope as he can hardly speak any English, making it amazing that he scored 342 (out of 500) in his primary exams. We wish him good luck!
